Bourbon, Scotch and Whiskey

Irish Whiskey:

Irish whiskey uses barley roasted in a closed oven and natural Irish spring water. It is tripled distilled for purity and aged a minimum of five to seven years for a rich, smooth flavor.

           Aged a minimum of 5 to 7 years in American bourbon and Spanish

           sherry oak casks.

            finish.

 

v Bushmills

          Lighter, no smoke and perfectly balanced, from the world’s oldest

          licensed distillery.

            A rich, dark blend from County Antrim. A taste that whiskey and

            wine aficionados have come to love.

 

v Bushmills Malt

            A rich smooth Single Malt aged with overtones of vanilla, honey,

            Affectionately called “the Big Fellow,” Collins was the spearhead

            for Ireland’s struggle for independence.


  

Blended Whiskey:

Blended Whiskey is the product of blending different types of whiskies. It is generally the product of mixing one or more single malt whiskies (made from 100 percent malted grain such as barley or rye) together with other grain whiskies or neutral grain spirits. Scotland, Ireland, and Canada are the most common countries of origin for blends.


v Johnnie Walker Red

Originally known as Walker’s Kilmarnock Whisky, the Johnnie Walker brand is a legacy left by John “Johnnie” Walker, after he started to see whisky in his grocer’s shop in Ayrshire, Scotland.

 

v Johnnie Walker Black

A blend of about 40 whiskies, each aged at least 12 years. According to William Manchester this was the favorite Scotch of Winston Churchill.

 

v J&B Rare

Justerini & Brooks, a blend of 42 Scottish malts and grain whiskies.

 

v Cutty Sark

Introduced in 1923, most recently featured in the FX comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It’s in every episode and is drunk by the  main characters in the bar.

 

v Dewars White Label

Created in 1899 by John Dewar & Son’s first Master Blender,  A.J. Cameron.  It has proven to be the company’s most popular blended Scotch Whisky over the past 100 years. A mixture of up to 40 single malt scotch whiskies, the taste is characterized as “heather and honey”.

 

 

Canadian Whisky:

Most Canadian Whiskies are blended multi-grain whiskies and are usually lighter and smoother than other whisky styles.

Bourbon/Whisky

Kentucky Bourbon:

Bourbon is an American Whisky, made primarily from corn, and named for Bourbon County, Kentucky.

v George T. Stagg

A high proof uncut and unfiltered bourbon, aged for approximately 15 years.

 

v Makers Mark

A handcrafted, small-batch bourbon whisky distilled in Loretto, Kentucky.

 

 v Wild Turkey

It’s nicknames include, “The Dirty Bird”, “Thunder Chicken, and “The Kickin’ Chicken”.

 v Basil Hayden’s

Sr. hayden was a Maryland Catholic who led a group of Catholic families from Maryland into what is now Nelson county, Kentucky in 1785.

 v Knob Creek

It is bottled at 100 proof (higher than the standard 80) and aged for 9 years.

v Bulleit Frontier

The rye flavor is so pronounced it almost  could pass as a straight rye. 90 Proof.

 v Jim Beam

        Founded in 1795, the Jim Beam distillery has been family operated for seven generations. Named in 1933 after Colonel James B. Beam, who rebuilt the business following Prohibition.

Tennessee Whisky:

Tennessee whisky is an American whisky that undergoes a filtering stage called the Lincoln County Process, in which the whisky is filtered through a thick layer of maple charcoal before it is put into casks.
